Anodyne Therapy System

Bird Physical Therapy is proud to offer the Anodyne Therapy System (ATS). Anodyne Therapy has been used in America since 1994 and is FDA-Cleared.

ATS is commonly used for patients with diabetic peripheral neuropathy. It is primarily used on feet, but is used on lower leg and hand neuropathies as well. ATS has also been successful for patients with lymphedema, lower extremity ulcers following surgery, upper extremity pain, TMJ, bursitis, tendonitis, and fibromyalgia. ATS is a comprehensive therapeutic approach combining therapeutic exercise, gait training, balance training, neuromuscular re-education, and other physical therapy interventions.

ATS improves sensation, balance, and function; it reduces pain, edema, swelling, and inflammation by increasing localized circulation. ATS uses an infrared light that is absorbed by the hemoglobin in the blood. This causes a release of nitric acid which leads to dilation of the blood vessels. This process causes an increase in blood flow which, in turn, increases nitrogen and oxygen to the affected area to promote healing.

ATS is not safe to be used over or near the womb during pregnancy or directly over cancerous lesions. However, it is safe for use over metal implants, pins and screws, and with patients that have pacemakers and defibrillators.

If you have any questions regarding ATS, please feel free to call Kevin at 785.331.0106 or visit the ATS web site at www.AnodyneTherapy.com.
